Daily update day 230 of 365 on 2026

It’s been a while since my last blog update. I haven’t abandoned it, in fact, I have plenty of ideas waiting but I’ve been mentally and physically drained, and I’ve consistently chosen rest over writing.

Life otherwise continues as usual. The real pressure comes from an emotional place: dissatisfaction, uncertainty, and a lack of direction. These feelings aren’t entirely my own, though; they’re external. I observe people around me with clear goals, yet they seem to brute-force their way through the process, which has been disappointing to witness.

On a brighter note, I’ve updated the web UI for this blog, and I’m genuinely proud of it, working on it felt healing. The layout has been reworked to help readers (whether they’re students, recruiters, clients, or casual browsers) navigate the interface more intuitively.

I appreciate the idea of Webmentions for the IndieWeb, but I suspect 90% of people still aren’t aware of them. So I streamlined things: the IndieWeb menu is now tucked away under “Others,” though the front page still highlights recent IndieWeb posts.

I’ve also decided to stop calling these posts “notes” and now label them directly as “IndieWeb” instead. This brings a structural change to the site, and thankfully, GitLab’s redirect support made the transition seamless.

# GitLab Pages redirect rules β€” copied verbatim to public/_redirects by Hugo.
# Verify parsed rules after deploy at https://journal.robbi.my/_redirects
#
# The indieweb section was previously published as /notes/. The timestamp
# permalink (YYMMDDHHMMSS) is unchanged, so only the section prefix moves:
#   https://journal.robbi.my/notes/240702123456/  ->  /indieweb/240702123456/
# First matching rule wins, so the section index is listed before the
# placeholder rule that would otherwise swallow it.

/notes/      /indieweb/      301
/notes/:id/  /indieweb/:id/  301
/notes/:id   /indieweb/:id/  301

While I often turn to writing and fixing personal projects as a form of self-care, nothing quite beats the reset of packing up and heading out into nature for camping but i dont have that time to spend now, hopefully soon!
